“We have reached an agreement with the District Attorneys Office. The bond will be reduced from $442,000 to $60,000. We will be securing Celeste’s release as soon as the judge signs the new bond,” announced Craig Greening, defense attorney for Celeste Perez.
Perez is the only witness to the officer-involved shooting of Ryan Stallings on what CSPD termed a “routine traffic stop.” The injuries Stallings sustained were fatal.
The announcement, made on February 5 via a Facebook group formed to mourn the loss of Stallings and support Perez, his girlfriend, was followed by updates from Greening in subsequent days:
February 6: UPDATE: We got Judge Brick to sign the order reducing the bonds this morning. We hope to have Celeste released soon.
February 7: We are waiting for the ankle monitor to be installed. The company is only open on the weekdays. We are trying to get someone up there to install today.
February 7: UPDATE: My associate attorney Sarah Wilkinson found someone to put the ankle monitor on at noon.
